December 2011
Saturday, December 3, 2011 - Great meeting and social time at the holiday mixer on the 3rd! Thanks to all that attended. We continue to do some great work promoting and protecting our right to hunt, and think that everyone that attended can see this. Western Montana has some real challenges facing us, and strength comes from numbers. If you are not already, become a member of Safari Club International and our Western Montana Chapter! If you are a hunter, I am certain you will see the value.
Fall 2010 Wolf Meeting
October 14, 2010. Turnout was strong at the Five Valleys Chapter Fall meeting. Open to the public, Five Valleys Chapter SCI set out to provide an open forum for facts and discussion about the ongoing wolf debate. Special guests, including Congressman Denny Rehberg, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Regional Wildlife Manager Mike Thompson and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Chief Legal Council Bob Lane gave attendees a snapshot of what is happening with current big game trends, what the legal challenges can do in the present Endangered Species Act (ESA) environment, and also what Congressman Rehberg is considering for proposed legislation to modify the ESA.
Time was also alloted for questions and many of the 150+ attendees did just that. Read the October 16th and October 19th followup aritcles reported in the Missoulian. |
